The Green Sea
Once, the Ossun Sea was an inland sea ravaged by storms. Below it, to the east, is the Riola Valley, home of the city of Crayben and its surrounding farms and villages. In addition, this area is home to a circle of druids called the Ossun Druid Circle. The circle lived and operated largely around the coast of the Ossun sea and, while they relied on Crayben for their basic supplies and recruits, they didn’t get along with the Baron of the city, who had little respect for nature or magic. That’s why, even when the druids warned him well in advance about the coming of Attarax, the storm demon of the seas, he refused to heed their warning. So, when the demon of the seas reached the Ossun Sea, Crayben was wholly unprepared. He hit the dam hard and the valley began to flood. The druids did their best to hold back the storm, but they couldn’t hold it for long. Despite their differences, Baron Jens Markell charged the demon to fight by their side, wielding his ancestral battle axe, [[Tandering[[, and did battle with the beast for the sake of his people. He fought Attarax until his last breath, giving the druids enough time to enact their last desperate attempt at saving the city. As Jens fell and Attarax lunged for the encircled druids, they completed their ritual, and from a single seed, drained the entire sea and replaced it with a massive forest whose trees stretched from the sea floor up to where the water’s surface once was. Attarax was imprisoned within a small pond in a cave at the bottom of the forest floor. In return for their service, the Baron’s son son, Elren, pledged himself to the druids, and joined them in their new home deep in the forest. When Elren joined the druids, he abdicated the throne and ended his family line. When he did, his teacher and mentor, [Alsendar Neroc]], stepped in as steward. With the residual magic from the ritual left in the forest, creatures that moved in began to grow larger in size. The deeper you go in the forest, the larger its denizens get.
